Mostly the modern homes are furnished with central heating and cooling system. Most of the homeowners still prefer to have decorative and traditional fireplace. Fireplace gives a unique look to a large living space, in addition to deliver warmth and radiant heat. The fireplaces are distinguished into two separate lines that you can classify as traditional Wood burning fireplace and the other is using natural gas.

Traditional designs:
The conventional fireplace is divided into 3 categories, such as traditional, clean burning and EPA-certified. Traditional fireplaces can be either masonry or factory built. The EPA-certified fireplaces resemble much like wood stoves and they are factory built. The clean burning fireplaces are either factory-built or masonry. To build a masonry fireplace the approximate cost would be around $3,300 to 4,800. However, it is best to install a traditional fireplace deploying an EPA-Certified professional, who are the right persons to install it in a proper way.

Traditional wood fireplace:
Traditional fireplace consumes wood as its fuel. For such fireplaces, you need well-seasoned and dried wood and a storage facility. The homeowner has to accept the responsibility for carrying a supply of split logs indoors. Also, some of the grocery and departmental stores sell small quantum of firewood for using in fireplaces. But when comparing the cost, it is more economy to buy the firewood in bulk.

Functions:
The traditional fireplace is made of brick, stone, cement, or ceramic, or some combination of these materials. The opening part is covered by a glass or metal screen or of its kind. Wood fireplaces are surrounded by an exterior mantle, made of wood, marble, metal, brick, stone, or some other material. Based on performance, there are different kinds of mantles available and installed in the traditional fireplace. Other than wood, in certain fireplaces are fit to consume coal, peat and some other materials.
